Memory Bear, Memory Quilt & Memory Cushions – How it works

Contact us and let us know what you would like us to make. 

We will need to unstitch, restitch and cut clothing to fit our pattern pieces, so please only send us clothing that you are happy for us to use. We can return unused pieces or use them as part of the bear stuffing. If there are particular parts of the clothing that you want us to use, such as pockets, logos, buttons, collars & cuffs, do let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Every Memory Bear, Quilt or Cushion is uniquely handmade from your treasured clothing. Please send clean, well-cared-for garments so we can sew an item you’ll cherish forever.

As a rough guide, memory bears, dogs & elephants require 4/5 items of baby/child sized clothing, it is aways better to provide slightly more than needed. We will return any unused items.

Our items are unique, heartfelt mementos, meant for display and remembrance, not for play. 

Whilst bears are very popular, we can also make sausage dogs and elephants or perhaps you have your own preferrred animal – please ask !!

We will add toy eyes and noses and the animals will be stuffed with toy stuffing. 

We use a variety of sewing patterns for animals including those from Funky Friends Factory, Simplicity and My1212Studio. Quilts and cushions are individually designed, depending on the fabrics provided.

Cushions – We can either stitch together items of clothing or can use adult clothing eg a shirt or jumper to make cushions. The outer will be made from your provided item/s and will have a zip. We can provide the cushion with or without a cushion pad. We can also use offcuts from your clothing to add to the stuffing. Each cushion size will vary slightly due to the type of clothing provided but will be approximately 40cm X 40cm to 45cm X 45cm. 

Quilts:

Each finished quilt will measure approximately 90cm X 90cm. It will include binding, wadding and will be backed with sheeting fabric in a complimentary colour.

Payment: We accept cash, or you can pay via your debit or credit card to our SumUp or Go Get Paid Account.      

Refunds: We do not accept refunds as each item is unique and made to your specifications. We will do our absolute best to ensure that we follow your requirements.

Sending us your items: 

Always contact us before you send us your clothing, so that we can expect them. We are based in Bury St Edmunds. You can drop them off or post, courier them to us. When you commission an item with us you can let us know which method you would prefer to use.

Delivery: 

We can post out parcels using a local courier delivery service – UK postage and packing costs a flat rate of £4.99.  We are based in Bury St Edmunds and can arrange for collection and local delivery.
